Alysia stayed in the nursery on Sunday!!!!! Do you hear the heavenly hosts singing??!! We got to attend Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood, which is something I have missed. And as much as I complain about the 9 a.m. start time, I do appreciate getting home and having the afternoon to relax and enjoy time with the family. Aaron had to stay for Ward Council in his new capacity as Ward Mission Leader. That calling in itself kind of blows our minds -- it seems like such a sizable and unfamiliar job. It is good that the Lord qualifies those He calls...
Our lesson in Relief Society was on the nature of our Heavenly Father. Sister Olsen was talking about the beauty and magnitude of God's creations - on the earth and all that He gave us here as far as our environment. She said He could have just thought "They don't need all of this. I'll just give them only what they need to survive on this earth." But He didn't. He blessed us with magnificent, beautiful miracles of nature just so we could enjoy them... because He loves us.

That is evidence that He doesn't intend for us to just barely scrape by. He intends for us to have more than we need, just because it helps us enjoy this earthly life more. Yes!
Yesterday, Aiden and Kylie had their piano recital. It was Aiden's first, and he worried all day that he would "mess up" when he was in front of everyone. We did our best to reassure him. It was so fun to watch him and Kylie play their duet of Jolly Old St. Nicholas. They performed it better than any other time I've ever heard them play it, and they sat there shoulder to shoulder bobbing their heads to the beat. It was a perfect moment in time.

My dad sent an update on my cousin's status this morning. Rick is en route from Germany to Maryland. His condition is pretty much the same as it was yesterday. They are going to wait until he gets there to make decisions regarding surgeries, etc. The good news is that he does have feeling in his legs, despite a broken lower back. The Marines are flying his wife and mother out to Maryland so they can be there with him. We are keeping the family in our prayers.
I found out this week that my Shannon is coming to Seattle in March and we'll get to spend a girls' weekend in Seattle. I am so happy to have the chance to see her again. It seems impossible that it has been a year and half since they moved away. What a blessing it is to have a friend who remains so close to my heart even 3000 miles away.
